This stone was erected in 1986 in the vicinity of the famous Steine, or Long Stone. The original stone was likely erected by Vikings in the 10th or 11th century to mark the landing spot for boats along the river Liffey, and became a major landmark in medieval Dublin. It was removed in the early 1700s when the river banks were channelized and narrowed, creating the land upon which the background buildings were constructed.
